Magik first collaborated with Death Cab for Cutie in 2010 on the album Codes and Keys. We provided original arrangements and string quartet for the title track and the song 'Stay Young, Go Dancing.' A year later, Magik accompanied the band on their VH1 Storytellers taping in 2011, and in Spring 2012, 8 Magik string players and a conductor accompanied Death Cab on a 27-date, 5 week North American tour. In 2009, Magik was the featured ensemble for Performa’s Biennial Consortium. In performances at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco and at TownHall in New York City, ten Magik musicians performed 16 world premiere commissions by artists including Mike Patton, Luciano Chessa, Blixa Bargeld, and Joan LaBarbara, written for reconstructed Intonarumori.
